Bills Toronto Series Information

4:07 p.m. was a historic day in football

The BILLS and the DOLPHINS fight for control
of the ball.

A brisk wind blew across the lake and snow lightly dusted the streets on Sunday, December 7. None of that mattered to diehard football fans who only had eyes for Rogers Centre and the knowledge that they would be part of history on this day. For the first time in football, a regular season NFL game would be played in Toronto as the BUFFALO BILLS took on the MIAMI DOLPHINS to battle towards that coveted playoff spot.

With a roar from the crowd and the toss of the ceremonial coin, it was the beginning of a game filled with tension and hope. Looking to #23 MARSHAWN LYNCH to lead the charge, the BILLS knew their playoff chances lay heavily with this Running Back who has a rare combination of power and speed.

The first and second quarters got fan excitement going through the closed roof with both the BILLS and the DOLPHINS scoring. BILLS PK RIAN LINDELL scored a 40 yard field goal bolstering the spirit of the fans and his teammates. The DOLPHINS also flexed their field muscles scoring enough touchdowns and field goals to put them in the lead.

As the fourth quarter got underway and the DOLPHINS lead 16-3, the BILLS knew they had to pull out all the stops to bring the game back in their favour. Unfortunately, the DOLPHINS held fast and with over 37 possesions in the game won 16-3.

Toronto pulled out all the stops for this historic game and the fans responded with excitement and football fever. Ignoring the blustery winds, fans started the celebrations early in the day with a tailgate party that took over Wellington and Blue Jays way with festivities lasting from noon until 4:00 p.m. Fans stepped out of the chilly temperatures and into the warm confines of the stadium ready to cheer on a game that will go down in the annals of football history.
