ROGERS CENTRE TO HOST TORONTO FC VS. LIVERPOOL FC ON JULY 21

TORONTO – Toronto FC has been invited to play in a friendly match against Liverpool Football Club at Rogers Centre as part of the World Football Challenge. The game, which will be played on a natural grass surface, is scheduled for Saturday, July 21 at 4 p.m. EDT and will be broadcast live on Sportsnet East, Ontario, West, and Pacific.
The friendly will mark Toronto FC’s second appearance at Rogers Centre following their sold-out match in March against the LA Galaxy. Liverpool FC will also make their second appearance at Rogers Centre after playing F.C. Porto in 2004.
“We are thrilled to be hosting Toronto FC and Liverpool FC at Rogers Centre.The atmosphere on March 7 was electric and we’re looking forward to seeing another sea of red on July 21. This is going to be a great celebration of soccer and a chance to see one of the most storied franchises in the English Premier League battle against our home team- Toronto FC,” said Silvio D’Addario, Vice-President, Events, Rogers Centre.
Liverpool Managing Director Ian Ayre commented: “We’re delighted to be opening our North American tour in Canada with a game against Toronto FC. We played Porto at the same stadiumback in 2004 in front of over 40,000 fans and it will be great to give our fans in the region another chance to see Liverpool play live.”
Liverpool FC will also be participating in a closed training session the evening of July 20 at Rogers Centre. Access to this closed training session will be made available as part of certain ticket packages as well as to certain select groups. Further details on this opportunity will be issued prior to the ticket on-sale date.
Pre-sale opportunities for select groups, including Toronto FC Season Seat Holders, will commence May 1. Tickets will go on sale to the general public May 4 at 10 a.m. Tickets can be purchased via ticketmaster.ca or by calling 1-855-985-5000.
