On Thursday, May 14, just hours before the Toronto Blue Jays faced the New York Yankees in the final game of a three-game series, Buffalo Bills QB Trent Edwards, along with WR Lee Evans, attended the Blue Jays batting practice.
Wearing official Blue Jays uniforms complete with their names and jersey numbers, Edwards and Lee switched sports briefly to see how the other side lives.
As part of a visit highlighting the upcoming December 3 game between the Bills and AFC rivals New York Jets at Rogers Centre, the Bills players showed that their athletic prowess extends beyond the gridiron.
“That was tough,” Edwards commented after clearing the fence twice during his session. “I got tired after just 10 swings in there. I can’t imagine doing that every day.”
Evans did not fare quite as well in the home run category though he did manage a few line drives for base hits.
“I’ve never been a strong hitter, I just use my speed and be an athlete out there,” Evans said.
Following the batting practice visit, Edwards threw out the first pitch to Blue Jays centerfielder Vernon Wells.
