From June 5-7, 2009 Rogers Centre is the place to be as the Toronto Blue Jays host an anniversary party for the whole city to enjoy.
On Friday June 5, several members from the 1989 Blue Jays team will be on hand to sign autographs from 5:45 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at sections 117, 127 and 138. Throughout the game there will be many highlight videos and trivia questions designed to test your memory.
On Sunday, June 7 the fist 10,000 fans arriving for the Blue Jays vs. Kansas City Royals game will receive a replica Rogers Centre model complete with retractable roof.
The Toronto Blue Jays played their first ever game at Rogers Centre (then SkyDome) on June 5, 1989 against the Milwaukee Brewers. Though they would lose the first game, Rogers Centre soon became home to two World Series winning teams in addition to Grey Cup Champions and the go-to venue for top entertainers from around the world.
Stars such as Rolling Stones, New Kids on the Block, Cher, Frank Sinatra and Liza Minella among others have all performed under the iconic domed roof. As the venue prepares to turn 20 years young, the hottest acts in the entertainment industry will once again call Rogers Centre home for their Toronto show dates.
On July 30, Coldplay will perform as part of their world tour. Exactly one month later, the hottest teen sensations The Jonas Brothers will unveil their full stadium show while in September international superstars U2 perform on back-to-back nights for a capacity house.
Memories are made at Rogers Centre and we look forward to hosting you as our guest for the next 20 years.
