As expected, Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson, Jr, along with Rogers Communications Inc President and CEO, Ted Rogers and Vice Chairman, Phil Lind
met with members of the media on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 to discuss plans to play eight games in five years at Rogers Centre.
The series concept recently received the endorsement of several key National Football League committees and was then approved unanimously by the NFL
owners. The series includes a regular season game each year (2008-2012) and preseason games in 2008, 2010 and 2012.
The game schedule and opponents will be determined by the NFL.
“We are very pleased to be the first franchise in NFL history to split our schedule between our domestic home city of Buffalo, New York and our
neighboring international city, Toronto, Ontario,” Wilson commented. “The population growth in Toronto, the passion the Canadian fans have shown for
the Buffalo Bills and the vision of Ted Rogers and Larry Tanenbaum have made this possible.”
Phil Lind, Vice Chairman of Rogers Communications Inc. added, “This is like a dream come true. Playing a season’s worth of games at Rogers Centre
will make for incredibly exciting football. Canadians love NFL football and this series will let Canadians see the games live in Toronto.”
